ANNOUNCEMENTS

LOCAL CHAPTER OF THE CATHOLIC BUSINESS NETWORK
After attending an event of the Catholic Business Network in Northern Virginia, Hugh Brown and Ed Dihlmann were inspired to create a local chapter in the Fredericksburg region in 2003. The chapter, comprised of business professionals, is open to all denominations and refers clients to other members of the group. The Network also offers business advice to all members at its monthly meetings. The group, however, is quite different form other business groups in the region – each meeting is begun in prayer by a member of the clergy who serves on the Board of Directors. One of the recent fundraisers was for a new Catholic High School.

NATIVE AMERICAN SCHOOL RECEIVES ASSISTANCE
In September 2006, a school serving the needs of the Navajo in New Mexico was vandalized. Word of the travesty was received by AKA Printing and Mailing, and the Spotsylvania County firm opened their hearts and their wallets. The company sent funds to repair the building and employees helped raise $6,500 to provide Christmas food and gifts to those in need. Each year, AKA selects a non-profit client to partner with for its companywide fundraiser. In 2007, it was again the Navajo mission. AKA employees volunteered to do the shopping and approximately 225 gifts were delivered in time for Christmas.
